Park Information

The park has enjoyed a high level of investment in recent years, with several facilities predominately for teenagers, including a skate park, climbing boulder, teen shelter and the electronic DJ booth to play and mix songs straight from your mobile.  These are known collectively as the Action Zone, to promote activity amongst young people.

A wide range of other facilites are offered, including community centre, café, toilets, two play areas, multi-sports court, seasonal pond and a cycleway.

The park was purchased in stages starting in 1888 and after the First World War a sewage works was constructed, although by the 1940/50s this was out of use and the area was used for landfill.  Subsequently in the 1950/60s the area was turned into a public park with lakes which now form part of a flood relief system for the town.

The lakes are home to a variety of wildlife including nesting swans.

Due to its proximity to the BBC and Elstree Film Studios the park has also been used for several films and television programmes such as East Enders, Grange Hill and Birds of a Feather.
