The Lawn Cemetery was opened in 1984 by the Lord Bishop of Hertford with the landscape permitting only upright headstones, placed on predetermined concrete plinths at the head of the grave. The size and shape of the memorials are constrained to ensure a unified design in an effort to encourage well maintained grass.
The cemetery covers some 10 Acres of land and to date over 15,000 interments have been carried out across over 3000 graves.

The Lawn houses a Chapel which is available for funeral services. The chapel is non-denominational and is available for services before a burial takes place. The room is suitable for approximately 50 people and contains an organ and stereo system. Specific needs can be catered for provided sufficient notice time is given.
Welwyn Hatfield Lawn Cemetery is situated to the south of the borough, providing residents and visitors with a peaceful memorial park.
The grounds where opened on the 2nd April 1984 by the lord bishop of Hertford. The grounds cover some 11 acres of land, which to date have facilitated over 2200 funerals.
In the main section of the cemetery, the size and shape of memorials are constrained to ensure a unified design by encouraging well maintained grass. The grounds also contain numerous options to commemorate cremated remains. The gardens of remembrance offer a choice of memorials in an area which encourages quiet contemplation.
The cemetery hosts a non denominational chapel which can be rearranged for a variety of uses. There is a hot beverage machine and public toilets for the use of any visitor all year round. Sporadic parking bays allow easy access for less-abled residents. The grounds can also be accessed via public transport with a bus stop situated at the entrance of the facility.
