Welcome to Whippendell Wood.
Situated besides Cassiobury Park, you can also take in the beautiful scenery in the 160 acres of woodland situated on the outskirts of Watford in Whippendell Wood.
Listed as an ancient wood by Natural England, the public footpath cutting through the wood, across the golf course and into Cassiobury Park makes it popular with dog walkers and families.
The woods are famous for the stunning displays of bluebells in the spring: with the best time to visit to appreciate the glorious blue carpet between the last week of April and the first week of May.
A purpose-built mountain bike trail is also in Whippendell Wood, and gives riders the chance to enjoy a progressive, purpose-built experience just moments from the town centre, making Watford one of the first areas in the UK to offer a council-led semi-urban mountain bike facility.
Whippendell has cycle routes and various walks.
Car parks can be found in Grove Mill Lane and Rousbarn Lane.
